Precision Metal Stampings

Precision metal stampings is a foundational business segment of our stamping capabilities. We manufacture stampings and spacers for extremely tight tolerance applications.

Our ability to meet and maintain tight tolerance requirements and long lasting durability give our customers the flexibility required to succeed in stringent market applications. Our engineers will devote the time needed to discuss with you the project's requirements and develop the necessary perimeters for success. AMG's precision stamping capability allows us to get quality right the first time.

Precision stampings may be able to take the place of  or in conjunction with machined components there by reducing overall costs to you. Contacting AMG engineers at the beginning of your project ensure that your requirements will be evaluated to determine if a precision stamping may be used to replace or enhance a machined component. The tooling can then be developed to produce the part you require.

Industry tolerances on a stamped part are usually +/- .010" on two place decimals and +/- .005" on three place decimals. These tolerances are dependent upon the thickness of material. AMG has the capability through die design to hold tolerances down to +/-.0005".  Thinner materials are generally used to achieve this level of tolerance. By using a precision stamping less machining of the part or replacing the part entirely can be achieved.

With AMG assisting you on your next project, we will help you produce a low cost, high quality part for your customer's requirements.

Sheet Metal Stampings

Sheet metal stamping, metal stamping, and sheet metal fabrications from a basic viewpoint are roughly the same. They use a cold forming process to deform metal into various shapes.

Sheet metal stampings usually referred to the process of punching a shape out of a flat sheet of metal. Metal stamping usually referred to stamping a more complex shape out of flat or coiled metal stock. Learn more about our metal stamping capabilities.

Custom Metal Brackets

Custom metal brackets have many uses. They may be used as a base to hold two or more parts together, they can be used as a position locator, and they can be used to support or hold other objects.

Brackets may be used in many different applications. They are used to secure cables to a wall, support a brake line to the frame, or hang a shelf from a wall. Whatever the application a custom bracket may be the solution.

Material is dependent upon your application. Carbon steel is the most widely used material and can be used in many applications. It is used where corrosion resistance is at a minimum. Stainless steel is used where corrosion resistance is paramount. Stainless steel will work where there is both atmospheric and chemical resistance concerns. Aluminum is used when weight or corrosion is a concern. Aluminum is used for many brackets in the Aerospace industry.

Stainless Steel Stampings

AMG uses stainless steel in many of the parts it produces. Customers require stainless steel in corrosive, high strength applications. Stainless steel is used in stampings, fabrications, and welded assemblies.

Stainless steel is a generic term for a family of corrosion resistant alloy steels containing 10.5% or more chromium.

Most stainless steels have a high resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel has a naturally occurring chromium-rich oxide film on the surface of the steel that resists corrosion. This film is self-repairing in the presence of oxygen which allows the metal to be stamped, fabricated, machined, and welded without losing this corrosion resistant film.

  • Corrosion resistance - Stainless steel has a high resistance to corrosion Low alloyed grades resist corrosion in atmospheric conditions; high alloyed grades can resist corrosion in most acids and alkaline solution environments. They are able to withstand these environments even at elevated temperatures and pressures.
  • Ease of fabrication - The majority of stainless steels can be cut, welded, formed, machined and fabricated readily.
  • Durability - Stainless steel is a durable, low maintenance material and is often the least expensive choice in a life cycle cost comparison.
  • Aesthetic appeal - Stainless steel is available in many surface finishes. It is easy to clean and maintain. The surface finish is very durable which allows stainless steel to be used as the base metal in many Class A surface requirements.

Stainless steel may be used in applications that require strength, durability, and corrosion resistance. For instance, stainless steel is used in the chemical and aerospace industries for it's corrosion resistance and durability. Stainless steel is used for it's aesthetic appeal and ease of fabrication in the transportation and food and beverage industries.

Whatever your needs may be AMG will assist you in determining the right material for your next project.

Exhaust Heat Shields

The purpose of any heat shield is as simple as the name implies: shield or protect a given area from heat.  Exhaust systems typically generate high temperatures that may damage or compromise other aspects of a vehicle, if no protection is in place.  Wire harnesses, floor boards and even dry grass or debris could be a big problem if the ambient heat from the exhaust system goes unchecked.

AMG manufactures a wide variety of heat shields using aluminum and stainless steels to support our automotive exhaust customers.  Some heat shields may be enhanced with fiberglass, or another composite to improve performance.

Our team is experienced and prepared to help you with any heat shield needs.
